Spot it! has quickly become one of the best seller card games, and I was able to use the concept to create this Sight Word Game for the 40 Pre-Primer Dolch Sight Words (and a extra few Noun Dolch Sight Words). This game gives you a fresh way for your students to practice their sight words AND it is super engaging! Your students will LOVE playing this year-round!
All you have to do is print the game in black and white or color, laminate, and cut! It is that simple! There are three different ways to play the game that you can introduce to your students, but all three games are super easy to play! And they are the same format from Spot it! so your students might already know how to play or can introduce the class to other ways!
The three ways to play that I included are called Speedy, Ninja and Savage! Feel free to come up with your own names! Each set up is super easy, and if you keep the direction card with the playing cards then you have easy access for a refresher!
In this set up for Speedy, there are three players, but you can have more or less! |
This is what the set up for Ninja looks like. |
Savage looks like this when ready to play! |
The black and white version is great for students who need a bit more of a challenge but are not quit ready for the Primer Sight Words because they have to look a bit harder for their match without having the colored word match to aid them. But the colored version is just so pretty!
These sight word cards are great to use any time of the school year, beginning, middle or end, and it can even be used during the summer time to avoid the "summer slide!." Plus, they are great to use with your own children over the summer. I'm thinking those long car road trips! I've included labels that you can print if you want to store these cards in plastic containers, but you can also use plastic sandwich baggies. Whatever works best for you!
Cards can be lost, and the game will still work perfectly! If you can think of other versions on how to play, please comment below! My students love playing this sight word game anyway possible! Primer Sight Words are soon to be available! Click on any image to go to my TPT Store!
